Moderate Volume Recruitment

Moderate volume recruitment poses many challenges, particularly regarding the balance between online automation and candidate experience.

SJTs provide a highly work-relevant and face-valid assessment, which can be administered online.

Mid-Stage Screening

Once the basic cognitive and behavioural traits have been accounted for in the selection process, SJTs are a logical next step.

By using SJTs mid-process you ensure only those suited to autonomous work are progressed to the expensive interview or assessment centre stages of the process.

Moderate-Stakes Recruitment

In roles that involve a reasonable degree of autonomy and decision making, situational judgement ability becomes essential.

SJTs provide a straightforward, work-place relevant assessment of overall situational judgement ability, which can be make or break in autonomous roles.

About Situational Judgement

Situational judgement is ability to make sound judgements and apply effective decision-making in workplace relevant settings. Situational judgement is a powerful behavioural trait, with a large body of research supporting its use in employee selection and assessment. As a result, situational judgement tests are reliable predictors of performance, and are used around the world.

Perceptions™ Situational Judgement Tests

The Perceptions™ suite of situational judgement tests (SJTs) employs the latest thinking on SJT design. Perceptions™ uses a new and innovative method of scoring, which is designed to maximise accuracy and minimise adverse impact against legally-protected groups. This allows the Perceptions™ suite to achieve a far higher level of reliability than comparable assessments, without unfairly disadvantaging candidates based on their demographic.

Candidate tips

Situational judgement tests (SJTs) present you with fictional (but realistic) scenarios. Your task is to think about how you would best behave in these fictional scenarios. You get multiple-choice options to pick from. This form of behavioural assessment is designed by professional occupational psychologists and the results predict how well you will perform in the workplace.

When you respond to the questions in an SJT, try to imagine yourself in the fictional scenario. You might be asked to respond as you would in a work-related scenario, so imagine yourself in the role. There are rarely time limits for SJTs, so always make sure you take time to properly understand the question and scenario before answering.

One of the benefits of using an SJT is that they help you get a rough idea of what you might be asked to do in the role. Whilst the scenarios won't exactly reflect the real job, you can get a feel for the kind of problems you'll face and decisions you might have to make in the real job.

You won't need any prior knowledge when you take an SJT; they are designed so that everyone from all backgrounds have the same opportunity. SJTs are not a test of what you have done; they are an indication of what you might do.

Check you have everything you might need. There is no time limit for our SJTs, but your first answer is usually your most honest answer. Think carefully about each situation but don't try to overthink it. If you lose internet connection during the test, don't worry, simply log back in and continue from where you were.
